Only one instance of AR System server can be run (on a specific RPC socket) on a machine at one time. If there is already a server running in this RPC socket, no action is required.
If the server is not running, you have probably encountered a known problem with the NFS lock manager on Sun workstations. At times, the lock manager keeps a lock active even when the process holding the lock is no longer running. If no arserverd process is running, free the lock by deleting the lock file. Start the arserverd process when this file has been removed.
